Dress code

Above all, we want everyone to feel handsome and beautiful while maintaining a certain level of modesty.  Here are some guidelines we hope you will follow.  Deviation from this may result in your attire not being permitted at the event

For the ladies...

  • Strapless dress are permitted.  However, please keep in mind that they are a hassle to deal with when dancing.  Please ensure that they fit well.  Use fashion tape when needed.
  • Dress hemlines, including slits, must not be any farther than 4" above the top of the kneecap, when standing.  We realize this falls differently on all body types, but in the spirit of consistency, this is the guideline we are using.
  • No sheer clothing is permitted.  If your dress has a tule bodice, it must have a flesh colored inlay or slip.  It may not be see-through, even if colored.
  • Backless dresses are permitted as long as they do not go below your belly-button.
  • Sides of your dress must not be any farther forward than your arms when hanging in a relaxed position.  Ensure that it is kept in place with fashion tape when necessary to prevent any accidental fashion mishaps.
  • Two-piece ensembles are welcome as long as they meet with enough overlap to fully cover your mid-drift, even while dancing.
  • Any shoe is permitted, but footware must be worn all night.  Feel free to bring a pair of slippers to have on-hand if you want to change into something more comfortable.  Coat check is available for these items.

For the fellas...

  • Any shoe is permitted, but footware must be worn all night.  Feel free to bring a pair of slippers to have on-hand if you want to change into something more comfortable.  Coat check is available for these items.
  • Jackets are not required, but recommended.
  • Dress pants, a tie, and a dress shirt are required.

Prohibited items and coat/bag check

  • Clutches are allowed to be kept with girls, but anthing larger than 5"x7" bag must be checked in.
  • Teens will have access to all checked items throughout the night once registration closes, but coats, and purses larger than 5x7, and prohibited items will need to remain in coat check.
  • OTC medications are permitted and allowed to remain with the teen, but must be in original packaging.  Prescription medications must be checked and in original pharmacy packaging.  Any medications stored in containers other than the original container will not be permitted and will stay in coat check until prom ends.
  • No weapons of any kind, including pocket knives are allowed.  A simple manicure set is permitted, but must be kept in coatcheck when not in use.  Anyone attempting to bring in a weapon, drugs, or alcohol will be refused admittance to the prom.

Security

There will be a lovely photo area set up outside the venue for families to take photos.  Additionally, parents and siblings may accompany teens into the entryway to get a peek into the beautiful ballroom.  In the interest of keeping teens as safe as possible, no adults or non-registered teens will be permitted past the entryway.

After registration closes, all non-attendees must leave the venue.  Staff will be posted at the entrance to the building to ensure that no one enters the building without permission.  Should you have an emergency, please contact your teen by phone or speak with one of the security team members and they will have your child paged by the DJ.  This will only be done in cases of emergency, however.

Once the prom begins, no teen is permitted to gain re-admittance after leaving.  Please ensure that your teen remembers to grab everything they need from their vehicles prior to entering the building.

All purses will be checked and pockets will need to be emptied upon arrival.  Any teen caught sneaking in alcohol, drugs, or a weapon may be asked to leave after their parents are called.

Allergy information

All dinner items will be gluten free.  Please note, these items are made in a kitchen that processes wheat items as well.

Building and parking information

Northwoods Homeschool Prom has rented out use of the entire building.  Parking is onsite and free of charge.  A member of the security team will be making periodic passes through the parking lot throughout the night.
