Information to know

Any homeschooled teen or PSEO student who is currently in 9-12th grade.  Guests are not required to be homeschooled, but must follow these grade requirements.

All teens agree to conduct themselves in a mature, kind, and respectful manner.

 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

We truly appreciate everyone who took the time to share their thoughts in last year's post-prom survey! Your feedback matters to us, and based on several comments we received, we've made some adjustments to strengthen and clarify our dress code for 2027. Our goal is to maintain a modest, wholesome, and welcoming atmosphere while keeping expectations clear and consistent for everyone. We encourage all students and parents to carefully review the updated guidelines before shopping for prom attire.  Any questions relating to the dress code or a specific dress can be directed to Lori at 612-360-6773 or info@northwoodshomeschoolprom.com.

Gentlemen, it's time to bring a little island style to prom night! Whether you're going for classic and classy, or embracing the tropical vibes, we can't wait to see you looking sharp!

• Dress pants and a dress shirt are required. Want to embrace our Hawaiian theme? Dressy Hawaiian “Aloha” shirts are welcome!
• A tie or bow tie is required with traditional dress shirts, but optional when wearing an Aloha shirt.
• Suit jackets and sport coats are encouraged but not required. Feel free to add a little tropical flair!
• Footwear must remain on throughout the evening, even when the dance floor starts calling!

Whether you're sporting a suit and tie or bringing some island charm in an Aloha shirt, come dressed to impress!🌴

🌺For the ladies, 

1. Necklines & Bust Coverage

No visible cleavage is permitted. Dresses must provide full, secure bust coverage.

• Low-cut or plunging necklines that expose cleavage are not allowed.  We realize that this may be applicable to some body types more than others.
• Strapless, sweetheart, V-neck, halter, and off-the-shoulder dresses are welcome if they provide appropriate coverage.
• Dresses must fit securely without gaping, slipping, or exposing undergarments.
• Fashion tape is encouraged when needed, but it is not a substitute for adequate coverage or a properly fitting dress.

2. Dress Lengths & Leg Slits

• Dress hemlines and leg slits may not extend more than 4 inches above the top of the kneecap when standing.
• This applies to all dresses, including floor-length gowns with slits.
• Dresses must maintain appropriate coverage while standing, walking, sitting, and dancing.
• Any hemline or slit exceeding the permitted length must be securely altered before prom.

We understand that dresses fit differently on everyone. To maintain fairness and consistency, the same measurement applies to all attendees.

3. Sheer Fabrics & Cutouts

• Sheer or see-through fabrics are not permitted in areas required to be covered by this dress code.
• Dresses with mesh, lace, or tulle bodies must have a fully opaque lining or slip.  Flesh-toned lining is acceptable, but sheer fabric alone, even if colored, does not count as coverage.
• Cutouts that expose the bust, under bust, or midriff are not permitted.
• Side openings may not extend farther forward than the natural position of your arms when hanging relaxed at your sides.
• Fashion tape may be used to keep side openings securely in place.

4. Backless Dresses

Backless dresses are permitted if the back opening does not extend below the level of the belly button.

5. Two-Piece Dresses & Ensembles

Two-piece formal outfits are welcome if the top and bottom overlap enough to keep the midriff completely covered at all times, including while walking, reaching, and dancing.

6. Footwear

All styles of footwear are welcome, including heels, flats, and dress shoes.  Shoes must be worn throughout the entire evening. Bare feet are not permitted.  We highly recommend bringing a comfortable backup pair of shoes or slippers for dancing. Coat check will be available to store your extra footwear and belongings.

7. Fit & Movement

Your attire must meet all dress code requirements throughout the evening, not just while standing still.  Before prom, we encourage you to try on your complete outfit and practice sitting, walking, bending, reaching, and dancing to make sure everything stays comfortably and securely in place.

8. Dress Code Enforcement

To ensure fairness and consistency, our dress code applies to all attendees.

• Attire will be checked upon arrival.
• Clothing that does not meet these guidelines must be appropriately adjusted before entry.
• If a dress code concern cannot be resolved, admission may be denied.
• Event organizers have final discretion in determining whether attire meets the published guidelines.

Please note: Purchasing a ticket does not guarantee admission if dress code requirements are not met. Tickets will not be refunded due to failure to adhere to the dress code.

A Little Aloha Reminder

We aren't trying to take the fun out of finding the perfect prom outfit.  We simply want to create a beautiful evening where everyone can celebrate comfortably, confidently, and respectfully.  Thank you for helping us uphold the values of Northwoods Homeschool Prom. We can't wait to see everyone dressed up and ready for an unforgettable night in paradise!

April 23, 2027 — Aloha, From Hawaii with Love! 🌺

If you are in need of financial assistance with your ticket price, please reach out to us at info@northwoodshomeschoolprom.com.  We don't want any teen to miss out on such a fun night for financial reasons.

• Clutches are allowed to be kept with girls, but anything larger than 5"x7" bag must be checked in.  All clutches will be searched, regardless of their size.
• Teens will have access to all checked items throughout the night once registration closes, but coats, and purses larger than 5x7, and prohibited items will need to remain in coat check.
• OTC medications are permitted and allowed to remain with the teen, but must be in original packaging.  Prescription medications must be checked and in original pharmacy packaging.  Any medications stored in containers other than the original container will not be permitted and will stay in coat check until prom ends.
• No weapons of any kind, including pocket knives are allowed.  A simple manicure set is permitted, but must be kept in coatcheck when not in use.  Anyone attempting to bring in a weapon, illegal drugs, or alcohol will be refused admittance to the prom.  Any of these items found after admittance will be cause for removal.  

In the interest of keeping teens as safe as possible, no adults or non-registered teens will be permitted past the entryway.  Once a teen enters the ballroom, they may not leave it until prom has ended or they leave for the night.

After registration closes or after your teen enters the ballroom, all non-attendees must leave the venue.  Staff will be posted at the entrance to the building to ensure that no one enters the building without permission.  Should you have an emergency, please contact your teen by phone or speak with one of the security team members and they will have your child paged by the DJ.  This will only be done in cases of emergency, however.

Once the prom begins, no teen is permitted to gain re-admittance after leaving.  Please ensure that your teen remembers to grab everything they need from their vehicles prior to entering the building.

All purses will be checked and pockets will need to be emptied upon arrival.  Any teen caught sneaking in alcohol, drugs, or a weapon may be asked to leave after their parents are called.

Northwoods Homeschool Prom has rented out use of the entire building.  Parking is onsite and free of charge.  A member of the security team will be making periodic passes through the parking lot throughout the night.
